WVIA-TV’s popular “Scholastic Scrimmage” series will be taped Wednesday and Thursday in Penn’s Inn, on the second floor of Penn College’s Bush Campus Center. The winning school at the end of the annual tournament will be awarded $5,000, with the runner-up schools receiving $3,000 and $1,000. The Lycoming County “Scholastic Scrimmage” competition is made possible by a grant from the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania. The series is underwritten by Penn College and Williams. Participants in this week’s tapings are Williamsport Area High School, Jersey Shore Area Senior High School, Montoursville Area High School, South Williamsport Area Junior/Senior High School, Hughesville High School (East Lycoming School District), Muncy Junior/Senior High School, Loyalsock Township High School and Montgomery Junior/Senior High School. “Scholastic Scrimmage” is a single-elimination tournament; episodes air Mondays in May and June at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on WVIA-TV.
