Women's Volleyball Team Defeated in Season Opener

Vol. 8, No. 3 (Through Sunday, Aug. 30) 'Cat Tales Women's VolleyballThe women's volleyball team became the first fall sports team to open its season, but found the going tough in the Penn State Beaver Classic as it lost all three matches. Top statistical leaders in the match against Ohio State Marion were Tara Powell (Bethlehem), with five digs and five kills; and Alyssa Covas (Pottsville) with three blocks, four digs and two kills. Leaders against Penn State Beaver were Covas, with two blocks and nine kills; Ashley Matson (Troy), with seven aces and eight kills; and Karlee Shubert (Hanover), with 10 kills and two blocks. The leader against Penn State Fayette was Lyndsey Smith (Mechanicsburg), with seven assists, two aces and four kills.
