Women’s Basketball Honors Two Graduating Student-Athletes on ‘Senior Day’

Prior to the start of Saturday’s game against Davis College, the Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s basketball team honored its two graduating seniors: Mackenzie Brown and Kierstin Steer. Both have been major contributors this season, which sees the team right in the middle of the Penn State University Athletic Conference playoff race.
Captain Mackenzie Brown, a health information technology major from Lititz, has been a two-year member of the team. This year, Brown is leading the Lady Wildcats in total rebounds with 135 and has consistently shown a strong presence in the paint with a career total of 205 so far.
She also scored a career-high 18 points against Central Penn on Nov. 17. Brown has also shown excellence in the classroom, being named to the PSUAC All-Academic team.
Captain Kierstin Steer, a technology management major from South Williamsport, has been a four-year member of the team. This season, she became the first women’s basketball player in Penn College history to score 1,000 career points (her total so far is 1,123 and climbing).
She has been a PSUAC All-Conference selection three times and has excelled in the classroom, being named a USCAA Academic All-American and as a member of the PSUAC All-Academic Team.
Halftime Excitement
The Loyalsock Lady Lancers sixth-grade basketball team played at halftime of the women’s basketball game, providing 10 minutes of fun and excitement for themselves and the audience.
"They played really well and were a joy to watch," said Lisa J. Worth, coordinator for club sports, intramural sports and marketing for athletics. "There are a lot of really good basketball players on the team and it showed on Saturday. The girls really enjoyed playing at halftime, and they played hard defense. The future of basketball at Loyalsock looks very bright."
Each player and coach was given a Penn College bag with an Athletics T-shirt; the players all plan to wear their shirts to school on the same day.
