Under the watchful eyes of Webb (center) and Keating, Shatto demonstrates use of the RobotStudio software on the college’s YuMi dual-arm robot.ABB Robotics’ donation of more than $400,000 worth of industrial software brought WNEP-TV’s Chris Keating to Penn College's main campus on Thursday. Keating prepared a segment that premiered on Newswatch 16 at 5 p.m., featuring interviews with Bradley M. Webb, dean of engineering technologies, and Chandler P. Shatto, of Mount Pleasant Mills, who is seeking a bachelor’s degree in automation engineering technology: robotics & automation. "We are going to have to have a balance between using robots and educated individuals to program those robots to do that work for us, and that is really where our students fill that niche," Webb said. "We know how to troubleshoot those robots, set them up, program them and make sure they run as efficiently as possible."
