'Cat TalesMen's Basketball Penn College fell behind Penn State New Kensington 35-11 at the half and, despite outscoring its opponent by 13 points in the second half, couldn't fully recover. O'Dell Jones (Levittown) topped the Wildcats with 18 points. Adam Walker (Williamsport) had nine rebounds.

Tied 33-33 at the half against Penn State Mont Alto, the Penn College men came up short in the second half and suffered their fourth straight loss. Sam Fatherly (Williamsport) led the Wildcat offense with 21 points and Jones added 14.

Women's BasketballGreat defense, which forced 32 turnovers during the game, led to great offense, sparked by 40 points from Katlyn Stupar (State College), as the Penn College women rolled over Lehigh Carbon. The Wildcats got off to a 16-2 lead in the early stages of the game and led 43-16 at the half.

The Lady Wildcats were simply too much in every phase of the game for Penn State Mont Alto, jumping to a 54-16 halftime lead while improving to 6-2. Stupar led the Penn College offense with 41 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Also in double figures for the Wildcats were Jen Racho (Hazleton) with 20 points, Natalie Plavi (Elderton) with 19, Janell Thompson (Northern Potter) with 13 and Tiffini Lanza (Perkiomen Valley) with 12. Plavi added 12 assists and eight steals.

The Penn College women closed out the week in an almost unbelievable fashion. When a team finishes the game with only three players on the court, it usually comes out on the short end, but not this time!

Only five Lady Wildcats dressed for the game and, due to fouls, went down to four players with 8:45 remaining . . . then down to three with 3:20 to go. But strong foul shooting down the stretch allowed them to win going away against Penn State York.

Stupar sparked the Penn College offense with 35 points and Thompson added 11 as the Lady Wildcats won their third in a row and seventh in nine games. Stupar is averaging just under 32 points per game.
