'Cat Tales BaseballJames Woodring (Waynesboro) went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Cody Lytle (Warrior Run) and Ryan Stewart (Emporium) had two hits each, but five errors proved costly in a loss to Penn State Fayette.

On Saturday, the Wildcats split against Penn State Harrisburg but clinched the Penn State University Athletic Conference West Division championship and will host the first round of the conference playoffs at Bowman Field this weekend. During the twin bill, Phil Woodring (Waynesboro) and Lytle each went 4-for-8 at the plate while Mike Daciw (Sun Valley) and Tai Mitchell (Milton) were 2-for-4. Jordan Staib (Williamsport) pitched a five-hitter in getting the first-game win.

SoftballWhen it rains, it pours, and Penn College poured on the hits (39) and runs (39) in a doubleheader sweep of Penn State Fayette. Chelsea Lyons (Howard) paced the offense by going 7-for-9. Theresa Witherson (DuBois) had two home runs in the first game.

Theresa D'Andrea (Weatherly) tossed a five-inning no-hitter and homered in the nightcap as the Lady Wildcats completed a two-game sweep of Penn State McKeesport. Marly Sampsell (Bald Eagle Area) went 4-for-8 in the doubleheader.
