This week's Green Tip is brought to you by the Horticulture Club: Small changes in daily routine can save a great amount of water, money and preserve resources for the future. A full bathtub uses up to 70 gallons of water, while taking a 5- or 10-minute shower instead only uses 25 gallons. Instead of cleaning a small load in the washer or dishwasher, save up for a full load and eliminate wasted water. Fix any leaky faucets around the house. Leaky faucets can waste thousands of gallons of water per year. Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth in the morning and at bedtime can save up to 8 gallons of water per day. The weekly tip is a cooperative venture of The Energy Conservation Subcommittee of Penn College's Governance system and the School of Natural Resources Management's Horticulture Department. (Contacts for the feature are Gail B. Landers, group leader at the Children's Learning Center and a subcommittee member, and Carl J. Bower Jr., horticulture instructor.)
