Wednesday service set for retired 'Master Teacher'

Frederick J. RankinenA memorial service will be Wednesday for Frederick J. Rankinen, Penn College's first department head for civil engineering technology, who died Saturday, April 20, at the age of 80. A faculty member from 1968 until his retirement in 2001, he was the 1992 recipient of Penn College's "Master Teacher" award. Rankinen's son, Jeffrey L., is an associate professor of electronics in the School of Industrial, Computing & Engineering Technologies, and his brother, Richard W., retired as an associate professor of forestry in 2006. The service will be at 11:30 a.m. at Nippenose Bible Fellowship, 92 Schoolhouse Road, Jersey Shore. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
