Cakes represent wedding gift bags. Hand-made bride and groom. The college community had the opportunity Monday and Tuesday to view entries in the third Cal-Java Wedding Cake Contest, conceived by renowned cake decorator (and Cal-Java International owner) Daniel Budiman for Penn College students. Eight students, enrolled in an advanced cake-decorating course, designed wedding cakes based on wedding gift bags. Visitors to Penn's Inn could cast their cash vote for the "People's Choice" Award, proceeds from which will be given to Williamsport YWCA's Liberty House, which provides rooms for homeless women (and women with children) and programs to assist them in becoming self-sufficient. Also on display were "seasonal" cakes by the Cakes and Decorations 1 class, blown-sugar sea life, and chocolate buildings.
