WDCE Courses Designed to Improve Supervisors’ Performance

Two components of Front-Line Supervisor leadership training will be offered this spring through Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Each course runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on two successive Wednesdays in Room 312 of the college’s Klump Academic Center.

Front Line Supervisor: Workplace Challenges (LDR 130) – March 22 and 29
This course focuses on building skills related to improving the workplace. The course is segmented into four modules: Applying Systematic Problem-Solving, Developing Time and Priority Management Skills, Facilitating Effective Meetings; and Understanding and Resolving Conflict. Upon completion of the four modules, participants will be able to implement a six-step problem-solving model, effectively manage time and priorities, efficiently conduct meetings, and resolve conflict in the workplace.

Front Line Supervisor: Workplace Improvement (LDR 140) – April 12 and 19
This course will include four modules; Framing Customer Perceptions and Expectations, Creating a Culture of Continuous Improvement, Identifying and Implementing Improvement Initiatives, and Presenting Initiatives with Confidence. Participants will examine their role as a leader and how their understanding of continuous improvement impacts customer service. Supervisory leaders will be encouraged to view problems as opportunities, to continuously look for ways to improve, and to apply what was learned for the purpose of promoting excellence in their organizations. The course also focuses on how to organize, prepare and deliver project presentations with confidence.

All five classes that comprise the Penn College Leadership Series for Front Line Supervisors – Supervisory Fundamentals, Performance Management, Teamwork and Cooperation, Workplace Challenges, and Workplace Improvement – will be offered in May and June.
