Visitation Day at Penn College Provides Unique Opportunities

A student ambassador leads a campus tour during last fall's Visitation Day.Visitation Day, a biannual event in which prospective students and their families can learn more about academic programs, facilities and campus life at Pennsylvania College of Technology, a special mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University, will be held Sunday, Oct. 29.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors will be able to attend information sessions, get help with choosing an academic major, meet with faculty members and school deans, interact with current students, and tour the main campus in Williamsport, the Lumley Aviation Center in Montoursville and the Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Allenwood.

Registration is suggested, though not required. A personalized list of activities will be generated for registrants (based on information they provide) to help plan the day's activities.

Free shuttles, available from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., will ease travel around the main campus, and free bus transportation will be provided to the Aviation Center and Earth Science Center, located approximately 7 and 10 miles away, respectively.

General information sessions on admissions, academics and financial aid will be offered on the hour from 9 a.m. to noon at the Field House for students interested in enrolling for Fall 2007. For students considering enrolling in 2008 or beyond, general information sessions will be offered at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium. Campus tours, led by Student Ambassadors, will be conducted at the conclusion of each session.

Each of the college's eight academic schools will be open for tours, with faculty and deans available to answer questions. "Meet the Dean" sessions will be offered at various times and locations.

Sessions for student housing will be offered on the hour from 9 a.m. to noon in the Presentation Room at the Student and Administrative Services Center, and tours of each of the four on-campus residence halls will be available throughout the event.

Those interested in obtaining off-campus housing can attend an Off-Campus Housing Expo throughout the day in Room 1049 of the Student and Administrative Services Center.

An "Employers Speak Out About Penn College" session will be offered from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium, allowing attendees to learn why Penn College graduates have a 95-percent placement rate after graduation.

During the session, employers will offer opinions and answer questions. Participating employers include Bob Capps, American Infrastructure; Keith Kuzio, Larson Design Group; Glenn Mechling, Susquehanna Health System; and Ed Balderston, Susquehanna Bancshares. Joining the panel to discuss services available to students and graduates of the college will be Patrice M. Friant, assistant director of career services.

Food Services at Penn College will offer a variety of dining options on Oct. 29, including the Susquehanna Room main dining unit, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Bookmarks Cafe at the Madigan Library, from 8 a.m. to midnight; CC Commons all-you-can-eat buffet in the Bush Campus Center, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and the Wildcat Express convenience market, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. A "Fall Fest Feast" brunch, featuring items harvested and raised locally, will be offered in CC Commons from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $11.95 per person.

The College Store, located in the Bush Campus Center, will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Penn College's many student organizations will offer a variety of informational displays across campus, as well as food, bake-sale and other fund-raiser items.
