Team Leader/Supervisor Program Offered at Penn College

A program for new or prospective team leaders and supervisors will be offered in the coming months by Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology.



The Team Leader/Supervisor Program consists of four, two-day sessions:

Developing Self (May 16 and 23) – Topics will include the changing role of the leader, developing your leadership style, fostering effective communications, and solving problems and making decisions.

Developing Others (June 13 and 20) – Issues to be discussed are recruiting and selecting employees, onboarding: orientation and skills training, setting expectations and providing feedback, and developing and coaching others.

Addressing Challenges (July 11 and 18) – Participants will talk about addressing performance deficiencies, leading through conflict in the workplace, the leader’s legal and ethical responsibilities, and supporting organizational change initiatives.

Creating Environment (July 23 and 30) – Topics will include creating a continuous improvement environment, building a culture of engagement and empowerment, and creating a high-performance work team. The session will conclude with a leader’s forum/roundtable discussion.

The instructor, Eric J. Bergstrom, is an experienced leader of organization development, human resource management and manufacturing/operations management. He holds a Ph.D. in workforce education and development from The Pennsylvania State University and has more than 20 years’ experience in industry.

All sessions run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are held at the Center for Business & Workforce Development on the college’s main campus in Williamsport. The cost is $595 per series.

Participants may choose to continue their training with the remaining leadership offerings during the summer, fall and spring. The program was designed to allow participants the flexibility of taking the sessions in any sequence.
