Through a rigorous selection process, School of Hospitality faculty chose Tacy L. De Green, Bloomsburg, a sophomore in the baking and pastry arts major; and Jennifer R. McHenry, Lock Haven, a sophomore in the culinary arts technology bachelor-degree major, to attend the May 21 event, which is hosted by the National Restaurant Association and the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

De Green and McHenry will join nearly 200 other students from hospitality programs around the country.

De Green expects to earn an associate's degree in baking and pastry arts this month, but will return in the fall to work toward a bachelor's degree in technology management. She is a student representative on the School of Hospitality's advisory board and is treasurer for the Phi Theta Kappa honor society chapter on campus. She is also an office assistant for the School of Hospitality and a resident assistant in on-campus housing. She was recently inducted into the National Residence Hall Honorary.

McHenry served as an intern on the college's public-television cooking series "You're the Chef," where she made on-screen appearances in the "Cooking Keys" segments and assisted with the show's food production. She will again help with activities related to "You're the Chef" this summer. She has maintained a 4.0 grade-point average. After graduating from Penn College, she plans to enroll in the nutritional sciences program at The Pennsylvania State University.

The students will be honored during the Annual Salute to Excellence Awards Gala and Banquet at the Chicago Hilton, held in conjunction with the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show.

At the awards ceremony, the NRAEF recognizes outstanding industry professionals. The Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show also will also include educational seminars, demonstrations by some of the nation's top chefs and a keynote address by former Secretary of State Colin Powell.
