Students in Legal Assistant Studies Program to Host 'Legal Talks'

Pennsylvania College of Technology's senior Legal Assistant Studies students will host their own series of legal seminars on May 4 and May 8.
The programs, which are free and open to the public, are part of the bachelor's-degree requirement for the students in this "capstone" course. While each student is permitted to choose his or her own topic, all are required to complete an in-depth research paper and to give an oral presentation on the result of the work.
This year, the students also will publish their works on the Internet. The oral presentations will conclude their work.
At the legal seminars, time will be allotted for questions from the audience. All of the seminars in the series will take place at the CoffeeHouse in the Bush Campus Center during the lunch hour and other times. You may bring a lunch or pick up a coffee and enjoy fascinating debates on current trends and hot topics in the law.
The scheduled topics and times are:
- "Indian Gaming Law and Policy" Denise L. Holbrook, South Williamsport Thursday, May 4, noon to 1 p.m.
- "Pennsylvania's Insanity Defense" John R. Bilbay, Sunbury Monday, May 8, noon to 1 p.m.
- "Juvenile Justice System: Is It Failing Our Youth?" Linda M. Laubach, Danville May 8, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
- "Zero-Tolerance Policies in Public Education" Mindy S. Snyder, Lewisburg RR 3 May 8, 7:45 to 8:45 p.m.
