Hershey Medical Center.Five radiography students at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently participated in a competition showcasing their curricular and technical knowledge.

The five students were selected by their classmates to represent the Penn College Radiography Class of 2010 in a “technibowl” a quiz competition held at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and hosted by the Penn State Hershey radiology program.

Two Penn College teams competed against 30 other student teams representing radiography programs at Penn State Hershey, Reading Hospital and Medical Center, Geisinger, Misericordia University and Holy Spirit Hospital. The Penn College teams placed in the top third of the competition.

“That is impressive, given the fact the Penn College students have nine months of study remaining in their program, while others they competed against are at the end of their studies and ready to graduate within two months,” said Karen L. Plankenhorn, clinical supervisor of radiography at Penn College.

The teams were made up of students Tammy M. Bergquist, of Montoursville; Natasha A. Mapes, of Mifflinburg; Lita M. Muthler, of Mill Hall; Justin M. Thornley, of Randolph, N.Y.; and Brittany A. Van Gilder, of Bloomsburg.
