Student Receives National ASHRAE Scholarship

Matthew J. Grim, a student in the Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning Technology major at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been awarded a $3,000 scholarship by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers.
Grim, of Hanover, is the first Penn College student to receive a national scholarship from ASHRAE, said Dr. Philip H. Henning, associate professor of electrical technology/occupations and adviser to the ASHRAE student chapter at the College.
Grim received ASHRAE's engineering technology scholarship, which is granted to a student enrolled in an engineering technology program leading to an associate's degree. ASHRAE national scholarship recipients must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average, be enrolled as full-time students, provide service to the profession, possess leadership ability and demonstrate good character, and receive recommendations from their instructors.
ASHRAE is an international technical society of approximately 50,000 members from more than 100 nations. Through its membership, ASHRAE advances the HVAC&R industry through research, standards writing, continuing education and publications.
The student chapter at Penn College is sponsored by the Central Pennsylvania chapter of ASHRAE, Region III.
