With only an occasional sprinkle despite the threat of thunderstorms, Saturday’s 25th annual God, Country and Community Flag March carried the event’s biggest crowd ever on a crosstown trek to Penn College’s main entrance. Under the majestic 60- by 30-foot American flag, participants listened to stirring music, honored active military and veterans alike, heard from community leaders, joined in a national recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance at 7 p.m., and enjoyed hot dogs and other treats provided by Humdinger. Trophies were presented in a number of categories including “Largest Group” honors to the 150-strong entourage from Lycoming County government and parade organizer Anthony DiSalvo distributed his trademark “Tony” awards.
