SGA ‘Silent Auction’ to Benefit Student-Funded Scholarship

The Student Government Association at Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold its annual Silent Auction on April 6 to benefit a student-initiated scholarship fund that rewards campus involvement and leadership.

The public is invited to view the sale items from noon to 4 p.m. in the Mountain Laurel Room of the Thompson Professional Development Center, followed by open bidding from 4 to 6 p.m.

Among the auction items are a Matco toolbox, a railroad clock and gift certificates. All proceeds go toward the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship Fund, created to help students succeed while encouraging student leadership at Penn College.

SGA has undertaken several fundraising activities and already has made awards of $500 and $1,000 to student leaders who met the scholarship criteria. In addition, the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship Fund surpassed $25,000 at the end of the 2009-10 academic year, a level of endowment funding that provides a permanent source of financial assistance for students. As earnings accrue and the fund continues to grow, so will the size and/or number of scholarship awards.
