SkilesArrangements have been announced for Donald K. Skiles, a popular professor of English at Penn College forerunner Williamsport Area Community College in the late 1960s/early 1970s, who died Saturday, May 22, in San Francisco at the age of 81.

A widely published short-story writer and poet, he authored five books: "Miss America and Other Stories," "The James Dean Jacket Story," "Football," "Rain After Midnight" and "Across the Street From the Ordinary."

A public visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, June 10, at the Maneval Allen Redmond Funeral Home, 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, where the funeral will be held at 11. Burial will be in St. Matthew’s Old Stone Church Cemetery, Marklesburg. Among his survivors is sister-in-law Joan E. Schell, a full-time member of the college's English faculty from 1990 to 2018.
