Scholarship to Reward Academic Performance, Community Service

A new scholarship fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology aims to reward high grades and community service among students in the college's School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies.
The School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies Endowed Scholarship Fund is building toward endowed (permanent) status, with a goal of at least $25,000 in the fund. Once that level is reached, the scholarship will generate an annual award of $1,000.
To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled as full-time students in any bachelor-degree major offered by Penn College's School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies, have a grade-point average of at least 3.0, and have participated in community service and/or extracurricular college activities.
The agreement was signed by Lawrence J. Fryda, whose administrative role at Penn College recently changed from dean of industrial and engineering technologies to special assistant to the senior vice president.
"This scholarship is intended to reward students who hold high academic standards and are active in community service, two attributes highly valued by the faculty and staff of the school," he said. "It is part of the intent of this scholarship to highlight those who best represent these values."
The school has departments for automated manufacturing/machining/toolmaking, civil engineering technology, drafting and CAD technology, electronics and computer engineering technologies, plastics and polymer technology, and welding technology.
