A scholarship has been established at Pennsylvania College of Technology in memory of a former staff member in the architecture and drafting program at the College's predecessor institution, Williamsport Area Community College.

The Steven Szendrey Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by his sister, Bertha Schreiber, honors the former toolroom attendant at W.A.C.C., who died last year at the age of 82. He retired from the College in the mid-1980s.

The scholarship will be awarded annually (in an amount to be determined) to a full-time student who has demonstrated academic quality and financial need. The award will be split between the fall and spring semesters.

"It is such a pleasure to meet with donors like Mrs. Schreiber," said Dennis L. Correll, executive director of the Penn College Foundation. "Her fond memories of Steven and his years at the College as an employee were such a joy to hear and have her share. Her commitment to honor his memory by establishing this scholarship fund is a true testament of her love for her brother. Steven is spoken about by many employees with such admiration. It is clear Steven loved his job and the students that attended the College. He wanted them all to succeed."

Additional contributions can be made to the Steven Szendrey Memorial Scholarship by calling Correll at (570) 320-8020, or by writing to him at One College Avenue, Williamsport, PA 17701.
