The Mid-Atlantic Equipment Management Association Scholarship Fund will provide an annual award of $1,500 for a full-time student who has completed at least two semesters in Penn College's heavy construction equipment technology-technician emphasis associate-degree major.

Students applying for the scholarship award must either be residents of Maryland; of Bedford, Somerset, Fulton, Franklin, Adams, York, Lancaster or Chester counties in Pennsylvania; or of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun or Prince William counties in Virginia. Successful applicants must have a grade-point average of 2.5 or higher.

"The Mid-Atlantic Equipment Management Association and its members are proud to help an up-and-coming technician obtain his or her goal," said Rob Ermer, treasurer of MAEMA. "Our industry faces a critical shortage of competent technicians. This scholarship will help fill the need for these skilled positions in the future."

"Penn College is grateful to the Mid-Atlantic Equipment Management Association for providing this scholarship for our students," said Debra M. Miller, director of corporate relations for the college. "Scholarships are an important resource in helping students to meet the cost of higher education, and we are pleased that Penn College students were chosen to benefit from this support."

The Mid-Atlantic Equipment Management Association Inc. is dedicated to the advancement of professionals in the equipment maintenance and management industry. The association's goal is to keep members informed of the latest legislation affecting the industry and changes in equipment product and maintenance, as well as to work closely with local vendors and manufacturers to keep them abreast of the latest technology and techniques.

Pennsylvania College of Technology is a special mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University, committed to applied technology education. With more than 6,400 students enrolled in bachelor-degree, associate-degree and certificate majors, Penn College has the second-largest enrollment in the Penn State system.
