The Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association has established an endowed scholarship fund for nursing students in the School of Health Sciences at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded this fall.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled full time or part time in the School of Health Sciences, with preference given to those in the bachelor-degree or associate-degree Nursing majors.

Preference also will be given to members of the Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association or their descendants, and the students must demonstrate academic quality and financial need.

"The Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association is proud to establish this scholarship for a professional nursing student," said Virginia Thompson, president of the association. "The purpose and objectives of our organization, which has been in existence since 1895, are to support educational programs and encourage professional growth of graduates of the school of nursing. The Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing closed its program in 1988, but the alumni association is committed to pursuing these goals. We are very pleased that Pennsylvania College of Technology offers nursing programs that we feel are worthy of this endowment."
