The Madigan Library's first Rockhounds exhibit a showcase of local, personal collections of rocks, minerals and fossils from Penn College faculty/staff and students was a success! It merited mention in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette on June 6, and, from 10.30 a.m. until the library closed at 9 p.m. June 10, the exhibit brought in 116 visitors (78 adults and 38 children). Already, there have been requests from the college and Williamsport communities to bring back the exhibit. Jeffrey A. Bower, virtual resources developer at the library, designed the Web siteand led people on tours from open to close. He organized the exhibit with the assistance of Jeannette Carter, director of Outreach for K-12, and Sara Houseknecht, a 2006 graduate of Lock Haven University. Specimens from all classifications were generously loaned to the exhibit by Penn College faculty/staff and students.
