Robert M. KrepshawRobert M. "Spyke" Krepshaw, of Elysburg, a senior in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Business and Computer Technologies, has been chosen as the Student Government Association's "Student of the Month" for January.

"Still working on bettering himself," in the words of his nominator, Krepshaw who graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in data communications is enrolled in the web and applications development major. "Since he has started here, he has continually grown, both in academia and maturity."

In addition to his studies, Krepshaw is captain of the Penn College tennis team, a Resident Assistant in The Village at Penn College and a Residence Hall Association representative.

"It is sometimes overlooked, the effort and sincerity put forth by RAs to help others, because it is their 'job,'" the nominator added. "But the truth of the matter is, it takes a unique person willing to contribute (his or her) time during extraneous times for a compensation that doesn't nearly match the effort."

Krepshaw also is an involved member of College Town , an ongoing effort to bring the community and businesses of Williamsport together with the city's three institutions of higher education: Penn College , Lycoming College and Newport Business Institute.

"In his first meeting alone, he was speaking in front of the whole committee with his ideas and projects, trying to better the initiative through the services that he could offer," the nominator wrote.

Whether as a student-athlete, RA, lifelong learner or civic cheerleader, "He truly enjoys his college experience ... because he helps and leads the people around him toward the same success that he strives for."

SGA regularly selects a "Student of the Month" based on commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement. Watch PCToday for the next round of nominations.
