Residence Life Office Honors Students, Programs

The Residence Life Office at Pennsylvania College of Technology has announced its exemplary student and on-campus housing programs for November and December.

RA of the Month
Chosen as "Resident Assistant of the Month" was Ashley L. Snyder, a nursing student from RR2 Shamokin and a second-year RA at Rose Street Apartments.

"In addition to her regular RA responsibilities, Ashley did a great job of stepping up to the plate and filling in where needed," Residence Life staff said in announcing her selection. "For her willingness to help out and make sure that things ran smoothly (she) has been chosen as 'RA of the Month' for November/December."

Rising Star RA
Honored as the latest "Rising Star RA" was Kelly L. Craven, a nursing major from Danville in her first year as a Resident Assistant at College West Apartments.

"This RA has transformed into a holistic individual by sharing with other people her willingness to help for the betterment of the residents," staff noted. "This individual never complains when assigned tasks, and is always a team player by contributing in areas such as time, talent and ideas to make the staff stronger. Kelly has built a respectable rapport with residents, and is continually developing into a stellar RA."

The Residence Life Office also announced educational and social "Programs of the Month," as follows:

Educational
A horseback-riding program planned by Rachel S. Hall, a third-year RA from The Village at Penn College and a culinary arts and systems major.

"Rachel combined her love for her position and experience to come up with a great idea for a program. She completed a cosponsored trip with (the Residence Hall Association) and planned ahead to request the funding. Her planning was organized, she completed the paperwork and coordinated the location of the program in advance. It is sometimes difficult to organize events off campus, but Rachel did an excellent job! The turnout for the program was excellent and the residents had a great time."

Social
Clayton B. Morrow, an information technology-security specialist major from Loysville, and Bradley J. Schmidt, a heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology student from Tyrone, created a fun, fall event for their residents at The Village. Morrow made apple cider and Schmidt purchased pumpkins and carving kits.

"About 30 residents turned out in the courtyard to participate in the event," Residence Life staff reported. "Everyone worked together, and a great time was had by all!" Morrow is in his second year as an RA; Schmidt is in his first.
