Residence Life Office Celebrates November Honorees

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Residence Life Office has announced its five latest Resident Assistants to be applauded for exemplary service in their respective on-campus housing areas.
RA of the Month
Selected as November's Resident Assistant of the Month is Alison K. Van Metter, of Saylorsburg, an applied health studies: occupational therapy assistant concentration major.
“This RA (assigned to The Village Apartments) has gone above and beyond the call of duty in the past month," staff said, noting her organization of a public 5K run that raised $400 to benefit the American Cancer Society and breast cancer awareness. "In addition to this highly successful program, (Van Metter) has made great strides in forming and maintaining relationships with her residents. She has been a tremendous support for a fellow RA who joined the staff in mid-semester."
Rising Star of the Month
The month's Rising Star is Matthew K. Peterman, a plastics and polymer engineering technology major from Barto.
“This RA has developed a wonderful rapport with his residents. There are minimal issues on his floor, and he keeps the housing coordinator and senior RA informed of any concerns," Residence Life staff said of Peterman, who is an RA in Rose Street Commons. "In dealing with a particularly sensitive issue, he was both nurturing and effective, resulting in a good outcome for the student involved."
‘First Responders’ Award
A tie among “First Responders” nominees resulted in dual recognition for November: Justin T. Mann, a heavy construction equipment technology: technician emphasis student, and Robert J. Lamb, a welding and fabrication engineering technology major, will share the honor. Mann, of North Haven, Conn., and Lamb, of Lansing, N.Y., are RAs in Rose Street Commons.
"This award is given for exceptional performance during an emergency, crisis or serious situation," Residence Life officials explained. "Although the situations differed, both RAs maintained composure in the midst of difficult circumstances. Their quick actions and ability to take control resulted in favorable outcomes for all involved."
‘Always Hallways’ Award
Amy E. Lynn, of Bloomsburg, a Rose Street Commons RA majoring in baking and pastry arts, was accorded this month's “Always Hallways” honors.
“This Resident Assistant has done a great job in her area of the residence hall," staff said. "Through her diligence, watchful eye and swift actions, she is able to maintain a student-friendly and student-centered facility that enhances the well-being of her residents."
