Reiki Classes to Be Offered at College's North Campus

An introduction to Reiki, a relaxing and healing form of touch therapy, will be offered Oct. 8 and Oct. 22 at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro.

The Level I and II classes, to be presented from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., will address relaxation, stress and pain-reduction techniques. The instructor, Sue Yarnes, is a certified Reiki instructor and owner of the Reiki Center, Bloomsburg. She has more than 20 years of experience in Reiki and energy work, teaching in hospitals, colleges and wellness centers throughout the region.

The goal of Reiki, which originated in Japan more than 100 years ago, is to improve health and increase vitality. Due to its simplicity and ease of use, Reiki is gaining popularity with the general public, as well as with nurses and other medical personnel, counselors and holistic practitioners. Students will learn specific techniques that provide deep levels of healing to treat illness to overcome negative behavior or to foster a more positive lifestyle.

The cost for the Level I class is $85; the Level II class is $135. Breaks will be provided; participants are responsible for their own lunch arrangements. The North Campus is located on Route 6 between Wellsboro and Mansfield.
