'Cat Tales Baseball In their regular-season finale against Penn State Beaver, Mike Daciw (Sun Valley) went 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles to lead a 15-hit attack (Daciw is 9-for-9 over his last three games), Phil Woodring (Waynesboro) extended his hitting streak to 18 games by going 2-for-5 with a home run and, on the mound, Nate Hill (Loyalsock Township) and Austin Upright (Montoursville) limited Beaver to one run.

After going 11-1 during the regular-season in the Penn State University Athletic Conference, the Wildcats were the top seed going into the conference's season-ending tournament, but that was canceled by weekend rain.

"I thought we had a great season. The kids really came together and played like a true team. They were like a family," said coach Rees Daneker.

"The first game of our season we lost our No. 1 pitcher in the first inning (to injury). When that happened, you're thinking that it's going to be a long season. But all the pitchers stepped up and did a super job and the position players were fantastic. We started out 1 and 4 and ended up 13 and 5, so we're very pleased with how the season went and we're excited and looking forward to next year," the coach continued.

Pitcher Christian Worth (Williamsport) ended with a 4-1 record and 1.40 earned run average, Upright was 4-0 with a 1.83 ERA and Hill was 4-2 with a 1.40 ERA.

Hitting-wise, Penn College was led by Phil Woodring, who hit at a .660 clip with a team-high 26 runs batted in, Tai Mitchell (Milton) hit 560, Daciw hit .542 and Dave Miller (Pen Argyl) hit .431

The Wildcats, whose defense turned more than 30 double plays this fall, will hold a three-game lead over their opposition when the PSUAC season resumes in the spring.

Women's Volleyball After a tough match at Penn State DuBois, the Lady Wildcats rebounded against Penn State Beaver, winning 30-20, 31-29, 30-20. Melani Grady (Youngsville) had three aces and Liz Mast (Twin Valley) four.
