The Penn State Cooperative Extension is offering a series of Rain Barrel Workshops conducted by Master Gardeners. For a minimal cost and less than two hours of their time, participants can receive more pertinent information and a rain barrel that can be assembled easily. Rain barrels use roof runoff for plant and garden watering while alleviating storm water concerns. To register or obtain additional information for one of the four sessions offered, contact the Lycoming County Extension Office at 570-433-3040 or by e-mail. All sessions will be held at the Lysock View Complex, Suite 6, 542 County Farm Road (off Warrensville Road), Montoursville. Dates are Saturday, May 1 and 15, and Tuesday, May 4 and 11. Tuesday sessions are 6-7:30 p.m.; Saturday sessions are 10-11 a.m. This water-conservation opportunity is shared as the weekly Green Tip by Penn College's Energy Conservation Subcommittee.
