Program director named accreditation evaluator

Jeanne M. Kerschner, director of Pennsylvania College of Technology’s occupational therapy assistant program, was appointed to the Roster of Accreditation Evaluators of the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education.

Accreditation evaluators evaluate the compliance of more than 500 occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant educational programs with ACOTE accreditation standards through on-site evaluations and online reviews. Their work provides ACOTE with the necessary information to make accreditation decisions, and helps to ensure the competency of future occupational therapy practitioners.

Jeanne M. KerschnerKerschner’s term began in January and extends to June 30, 2024.

Kerschner has been with the college since 2009, serving as an assistant professor and clinical director in the occupational therapy assistant program before being named director. In March 2021, she was named the Student Government Association’s Faculty of the Month. She is also founder, owner, consultant and contract provider for My Unique Self: Occupational Therapy, Wellness and Consulting.

Kerschner is a registered occupational therapist. She earned an associate degree in occupational therapy assistant from Penn College in 1990, and a bachelor’s degree in general education and master’s degree in occupational therapy from Misericordia University. She has served as a textbook reviewer and National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy practice exam question author.

The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education is an associated advisory council of the Executive Board of the American Occupational Therapy Association. The council is recognized as the accrediting agency for occupational therapy education by both the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
