Professor Traveling to Netherlands for Academy Training

Nick A. VonadaAn associate professor of computer science at Pennsylvania College of Technology will travel to the Netherlands next month to complete his training under the Chair Academy educational-leadership program.

Nick A. Vonada, a faculty member in Penn College's School of Business and Computer Technologies, will attend the Global Chair Leadership Academy at Koning Willem I College in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, from June 17-24. The academy, based at Maricopa County Community College in Mesa, Ariz., is an international, limited-enrollment program for department chairs and other postsecondary administrators.

The grant-funded visit is the culmination of Vonada's yearlong training, during which he was mentored by Irwin H. Siegel, professor of business administration/business law and recipient of Penn College's 2005 Master Teacher Award. Along the way, he completed eight assignments and wrote midterm and final reports.

Vonada presented "Coping with Globalization in Education Leadership," a paper about the effects of globalization on distance learning, during the academy's 15th Annual International Conference from April 19-22 in Tucson, Ariz.
