Homecoming event to benefit Running Without EDPre-registration will be held Thursday for the following night's milelong "Glow Run," an after-dark Homecoming event that hopes to shed light on eating disorders. Advance signups will be accepted from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Hager Lifelong Education Center lobby, just outside the Keystone Dining Room. Proceeds (donations of $5 for students and $10 for faculty/staff/public are suggested) will benefit Running Without ED. Registration will also be available on-site a half-hour before Friday's 9:15 p.m. run/walk; free T-shirts, food and glow sticks/necklaces/bracelets will be given to participants. The fundraiser occurs midway through that evening's Homecoming schedule, which includes a bonfire at 8 p.m. near Dauphin Hall and a 9 p.m. race warmup by the Penn College Physical Fitness Specialist Club. At 9:45 p.m., speakers Julie H. Carr, of Souderton, a nursing major and founder of the college's Running Without ED student chapter, and Karen L. Martin, an associate professor of medical-surgical nursing, will discuss the mental health issues surrounding eating disorders. Yoga will follow at 10 p.m., led by Clayton A. King, a part-time faculty member in fitness/lifetime sports.
