PPL Provides Support for New Library at Penn College

Pennsylvania College of Technology President Davie Jane Gilmour accepts a check from Donald E. Stringfellow, regional community relations director for PPL, in front of the Roger and Peggy Madigan LibraryPPL Corp. is committing its support to the newest facility at Pennsylvania College of Technology: the Roger and Peggy Madigan Library.

Donald E. Stringfellow, regional community relations director for PPL, this week presented Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour with the first of the company's five annual pledge payments in support of the fund-raising campaign for the Madigan Library.

"PPL Corporation is pleased to contribute to the Madigan Library Campaign," Stringfellow said. "This new facility is evidence of the commitment that the college has made to the students and community. We believe Penn College plays a critical role in our region, providing a technology-based education that helps the competitiveness of our workforce."

Stringfellow is a Penn College graduate and recipient of the college's Distinguished Alumnus award in 2002.

Allentown-based PPL controls about 11,500 megawatts of generating capacity in the United States. The company delivers electricity to 1.4 million customers in Pennsylvania and another 3.6 million customers in the United Kingdom and Latin America. "Penn College is grateful for PPL Corporation's support of the Madigan Library Campaign," Gilmour said. "PPL has been an excellent partner over the years, hiring many of our graduates and assisting the college with support for our plastics program."

The Roger and Peggy Madigan Library opened Aug. 14. It will be formally dedicated on Sept. 12.
