The challenge was organized by the Lycoming County Health Improvement Coalition, with partnership from Clinical Outcomes Group and Pennsylvania Department of Health. Aimed at getting youth to exercise more and eat more nutritious foods, the Summer Fitness & Nutrition Challenge engaged children 6-11 years old through biweekly fitness and nutrition lessons and a competition that gave points for physical activities and eating fruits and vegetables, which they documented in a diary. Firetree Place in Williamsport also participated in the pilot summer program.
