Penn College women’s basketball, wrestlers go 2-0

Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s basketball and wrestling teams both posted 2-0 records this past week.

Women’s basketball
Penn College led for all but 59 seconds during a 68-55 win at Penn State Abington on Tuesday.

Kayleigh Miller, of Sayre, paced the Wildcats with a game-high 20 points, while Rachel Teats, of Middleburg, finished with 15 points and Lexi Troup, of Huntingdon, scored 14.

At SUNY Morrisville on Saturday, Penn College completed a perfect week with a 67-63 overtime win that avenged a 15-point Jan. 14 home loss to Morrisville. Penn College now is 5-4 in the UE and 6-12 overall.

Tied at 53 after regulation, the Wildcats outscored the Mustangs 14-10 in the OT, with Troup netting eight of her 11 points.

Emily Pardee, of Williamsport, and Miller both finished with 14 points for Penn College, while Ja’Quela Dyer, of Dover, Delaware, added 12 points.

Men’s basketball
At Penn State Abington on Tuesday, the Wildcats led by as many as eight points in the first half but saw that slip away in a 73-71 United East loss.

Gavin Barrett, of Roselle, New Jersey, led Penn College with a game-high 29 points.

On Saturday at SUNY Morrisville, Penn College fell behind by as many as 11 points in the first half and rallied to lead by three twice in the second half before falling, 84-78, and drop to 3-6 in the UE and 8-10 overall.

Livingston Cross, of Union, New Jersey, came off the bench to lead five Wildcats in double figures with 15 points, while Barrett and Max Jackowsky, of Garnet Valley, each scored 14.

Wrestling
In a home triangular on Saturday, the Wildcats improved to 7-8 in dual matches with wins over Penn State Mont Alto, 42-6, and Rowan College South Jersey-Gloucester, 50-0.

Winning both of their bouts on the day were Ryan Berstler, of Middletown (125); Pat Snoke, of Northampton (133); Noah Hunt, of Muncy (141); Brett Patton, of West Chester (149); Cullen Van Rooyen, of Dresden, Ohio (157); Nick Semon, of Norristown (165); and Gabriel Kennedy-Citeroni, of Blairsville (197).

Lifetime, Penn College now is 5-1 against Mont Alto with a five-match win streak. Rowan was a first-time foe for the Wildcats.
