Penn College Winter Commencement Set for Dec. 17

Nearly 370 students have petitioned to graduate at the conclusion of the Fall 2011 semester at Pennsylvania College of Technology, which will hold a commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 17.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.

The student speaker is Molly G. Goldsmith, of Liberty, who will receive an associate degree in forest technology. Goldsmith is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, which recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students, and the CEFTS (Council of Eastern Forest Technician Schools) Honor Society. She will receive the Forest Technology Faculty Award in a separate ceremony. Goldsmith also served as a student tutor for botany for two semesters.

During the ceremony, Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour will present a Humanitarian/Citizenship Award to an alumnus of the college.

Gilmour will be joined by state Rep. Garth Everett, R-Muncy, a member of the Penn College Board of Directors, as she confers degrees and certificates upon the graduates.
