Pennsylvania College of Technology's website achieved University Standard of Excellence recognition in the Web Marketing Association's WebAward 2010 competition .

According to the organization, founded in 1997 to establish and encourage standards for Internet marketing, the award recognizes the standard of excellence for which all websites should strive. The annual competition names the best websites in 96 industries, judged by a panel of independent Internet experts in such areas as design, interactivity, technology, content, innovation, copywriting and ease of use to the target audience.

In the 2010 competition, Glidden paint company's website earned the Best of Show and the University of Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business earned Best University website honors.

Penn College was one of 15 institutions from around the world recognized in the university category. Others included Villanova, UCLA, and universities in Hong Kong, South Africa and Sweden. The site was judged most favorably for its interactivity and copywriting; in both categories, it ranked above the average for WebAward 2010 recipients.

Leadership in the design and maintenance of the website is provided by Penn College employees in the College Information & Community Relations Office: Judy Fink, manager of web design, and web designers Shawn McGehean, Carlos Ramos, Michael Richards and Phillip Warner. Other employees, including members of the College Information & Community Relations staff, provide copywriting, editing, photography and video for the site.

"Achieving an international standard of excellence is a tremendous reward for our staff," said Elaine J. Lambert, director of college information and community relations. "The talents of our designers, writers, editors, photographers and videographers all come together to create an informative and interactive website that can now proudly display its recognition as one of the best sites on the Internet today."
