Pennsylvania College of Technology's tennis team opens its season Tuesday at Penn State Lehigh Valley while the remainder of Wildcat fall sports went 3-1-1 last week.

Robert Kemrer returns for his second season as head coach and he thinks his squad “will be one of the top teams in the Penn State University Athletic Conference and should have a good shot at a championship.”
A year ago, the Wildcats posted a 6-2 record and finished second in the PSUAC.
Key returning players are Nathan Scott, of Canton, Conn.; Adam Smith, of Duncannon; and Caleb Wise, of Manheim. Those three, along with Tyrus Ludwig, of Selinsgrove, and Jordan Rodgers, of Biglerville, are vying for the four men’s singles playing positions.
“My team is looking very good so far. We have an extremely deep men's roster, which includes some very promising freshmen. Also, we have four new female players who are looking good as well,” Kemrer said.
Vying for the two women’s starting spots are Taylor Lapointe, of Pelham, N.H.; Jenna Walmer, of Lebanon; and Natalie Williams, of Bethel.
“Right now, I have a lot of freshman and sophomores and a few veteran players leading the way. I feel that our team’s biggest strength is the amount of energy all of the players have and their ability to use it to improve their game,” the coach said.
“The key to our success will be staying consistent during matches and keeping all of our players healthy,” Kemrer added.

Cross-Country
In their first meet of the season on Saturday at Penn State Scranton, the Wildcat men finished first in a nine-team field with four runners among the top 10. Daniel Starr, of Stewartstown, placed second individually in 31:18; Dan Blauvelt, of Flemington, N.J., was sixth in 32:47; Mike Acquaro, of Oakhurst, N.J., was eighth in 33:08; and Ed Knyff, of Ocean Gate, N.J., was ninth in 33:13. For the Penn College women, Eileen Harrington, of Springfield, Va., was 31st in 44:51.
Men’s Soccer
Penn College opened a 2-0 lead, but Alfred (N.Y.) State College battled back and the teams settled for a draw on Wednesday. Ben Shade, of Fleetwood, and Tarik LaRoche, of Milton, scored goals for the Wildcats. Penn College goalie Jonatan Leon-Ruiz, of Landenburg, recorded eight saves.
On Saturday, in their first PSUAC match of the season, the Wildcats evened their overall record at 1-1-1 with a 2-0 win at Penn State Brandywine. Scoring for Penn College were Luke McFalls, of New Oxford, and LaRoche.
Women’s Soccer
In a defensive struggle at home on Wednesday, the Wildcats lost to Rosemont College, 1-0. Goalie Reda Vermilya, of Watsontown, had nine saves on the defensive end, but Penn College could not capitalize on its 18 shots as only seven were on goal and all missed.
On Saturday, Penn College dominated in a 9-0 win at Cedar Crest College that improved the team’s record to 2-1. Valeria Passalacqua, of McAlisterville, scored three goals to lead the way while Sarah Zeigler, of Liverpool, and Madilyn Walters, of Lewistown, each added two goals. The Wildcats had 25 shots to just five for Cedar Crest.
Golf
The team’s opener last week at Penn State Lehigh Valley was postponed by rain and the squad is scheduled to open Tuesday at Penn State Mont Alto.
