Penn College Teams Have Light Holiday-Week Schedule

During the Thanksgiving holiday week, Pennsylvania College of Technology basketball and wrestling teams competed in just one event each. This week, Wildcat basketball players open Penn State University Athletic Conference play Wednesday at Penn State Hazleton. The women play at 6 p.m. and the men at 8.

Flashback WrestlingSaturday in the annual Mat Town USA Open at Lock Haven University, Cameron Price, of East Freedom, placed sixth in the 184-pound weight class to lead Penn College. During the event, Drew Zettle, of Spring Mills, won one bout at 149, as did Alex Myers, of Horsham, at 285.

Men's BasketballTraveling to New York state on Tuesday, the Wildcat lost at Alfred University, 86-40. Jason Greenfield, of Wellsboro, scored a team-leading 12 points as the squad dropped to 0-6 for the season.

Women's BasketballTuesday, Penn College lost at Alfred, N.Y., University, 94-45, despite a 24-point effort from Kierstin Steer, of South Williamsport. The loss dropped the Wildcats to 0-6.

On the Run According to coach Mike Paulhamus, three members of the college's cross-country team ran in the 26.2-mile Philadelphia Marathon Nov. 20. Corvin Oberholtzer, of Wellsboro, finished with a clock time of 3 hours, 34 minutes (1,699 of 9,408 runners who finished); Dan Starr, of Stewartstown, finished in 3:46:27 (2,558); and Dan Flynn, of Blairstown, N.J., finished in 3:54:44 (3,310). Competing in the half marathon, Penn College alumna Alyssa Giedroc, of Howard, finished in 2:01.
