Three Pennsylvania College of Technology students are among 16 nationwide selected to receive $1,500 scholarships from the Plastics Pioneers Association, a society of plastics industry leaders.

To be considered for Plastics Pioneers scholarships - which are administered by the Plastics Institute of America, based at the University of Massachusetts Lowell - students must submit a resume, transcript, a list of extracurricular activities, a letter of recommendation and an essay describing their interest in a career in plastics.

The three Penn College students receiving scholarships for the 2001-02 academic year are enrolled in the Plastics and Polymer Engineering Technology bachelor-degree program. They are: Brett L. Davidson, Walnut Bottom; Lucas W. Mellinger, Newville; and Tymon J. Moore, Jersey Shore.

Founded in 1942, the Plastics Pioneers Association is a society dedicated to fostering friendship among long-standing members of the plastics industry. Membership is limited to 250, and applicants must have made a significant contribution to the industry and must have been employed in the industry for at least 30 years.
