Penn College Plastics Student Awarded Second National Scholarship

The Society of Plastics Engineers has awarded a Pennsylvania College of Technology plastics student a second scholarship for the 2013-14 academic year.
Bryan T. Robinson, Gilbertsville, a junior enrolled in the college’s plastics and polymer engineering technology bachelor-degree major, recently received a $3,000 Plastics Pioneers Association Scholarship from the SPE Foundation. The scholarship recognizes undergraduate students who are committed to careers as plastics technicians or engineers.
Last fall, SPE’s Blow Molding Division awarded Robinson the $6,000 Carrie Fox Solin Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to a student who has completed two years of a four-year undergraduate plastics engineering program, possesses a strong record of academic and extracurricular achievements, and is a member of an SPE student chapter.
Robinson is president of the Penn College SPE student chapter and is a Dean’s List student. He has completed three internships in the plastics industry and has attended several plastics conferences. Robinson serves the Penn College community as a Resident Assistant. He is scheduled to graduate in May 2015.
“Bryan is very deserving of this scholarship,” said Timothy E. Weston, associate professor of plastics and polymer technology and department head. “Winning multiple national scholarships is a testament to the excellent work Bryan has done here at Penn College. He is a great example of the success of our students at the national level.”
SPE is an organization dedicated to promoting the scientific and educational aspects of the plastics engineering profession. Membership in SPE includes approximately 16,000 plastics professionals in more than 84 countries.
Penn College is one of only five colleges in the nation offering plastics and polymer degree programs accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET.
