Penn College, PHEAA Sponsoring Feb. 9 Instructional Session

A session to help families understand how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, sponsored by the Financial Aid Office at Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, on the college's main campus in Williamsport.
The instructional session will begin at 10 a.m. in the Presentation Room on the first floor of Penn College's Student and Administrative Services Center and last approximately two hours.
All college-bound students and their parents are invited to receive free assistance in understanding how to complete the FAFSA, the form required by colleges and universities to qualify for scholarships, federal and state grants, and student and parent loans.
"Our primary goal is to make sure that the first step to financial aid is completed accurately in order that funds can be made available to those striving for a higher education," said Dennis L. Correll, financial aid director at Penn College. "We recognize that the financial-aid process can be daunting. We hope that, by offering an instructional session, it will help parents and students accurately fill out the FAFSA."
If students are 23 years old or younger, they should attend with a parent or guardian.
"We hope this one-day event will help students and parents cross the electronic barrier to qualify for financial aid," noted Don Shade, regional PHEAA director. "The more who fill out the FAFSA correctly, the more will receive needed funds to attend a higher-education institution."
Parents and students attending any college or university are welcome to attend this session. Penn College had one of the largest-attended sessions for this event last year from across the state, so it is important to pre-register.
