Penn College Men's Cross Country Team Reaches New High

Pennsylvania College of Technology's men's cross country team has had more than its share of success over the years, but, onOct. 6, it reached a new high.
Paced by sophomore Greg Kammerle (Willow Grove), the Wildcats won their first nonconference meet in 20 seasons. Kammerle covered the 4.9-mile course in 28:30. A year ago, he set a record on the course when he finished in 28:15.
Other Penn College runners and their finishes were Mark Cordeiro, of Canton (third, 28:56); Tristan Mummert, of Red Land (fifth, 29:22); Jeff Faherty, of High Point, N.J. (seventh, 29:42); Zach Lengel, of Linden (14, 30:42); Brad Robinson, of West Chester (18, 31:46); John Greenwood, of Harrisburg (23, 33:46); Brian West, of Newark, Del. (29, 35:03); Michael Womelsdorf, of Allentown (31, 36:10); Tim Schwarz, of Downingtown (38, 37:48); and Mike Fischer, of Ringwood, N.J. (41, 38:55).
Penn College finished with 25 team points, while host Albright had 58; Lincoln University, 62; Penn State Berks, 97; and Williamson Trade School, 110. The previous best nonconference finish for the team under coach Mike Paulhamus was a second at the Marywood University Invitational earlier this season.
Both the Penn College men and women are back in action Saturday at Penn State Mont Alto.
