Pennsylvania College of Technology is premiering an August commencement on Sunday, Aug. 9. The ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m., on the campus mall in front of the Advanced Technology and Health Sciences Center.

Students graduating at the conclusion of the May or June semesters are eligible to participate in the event. The College also conducts two May commencements and one December commencement.

Of the new addition, Veronica M. Muzic, interim vice president for academic affairs and provost, explained, "The College has added an August commencement ceremony to accommodate students who are completing their on-campus course work during the summer months. Students enrolled in their final semester will no longer need to return to campus in December to participate in a graduation ceremony."

Among the approximately 120 students eligible to graduate will be the first alumni of the physician assistant baccalaureate degree major, Muzic noted.

Penn College President Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour will preside over the August commencement. The student speaker will be Michele Beth Confer, of Mill Hall, a radiography graduate. In addition to the presentation of diplomas, the event will honor student award winners.

Following the ceremony, a reception will be held for the graduates and their guests.

In the event of inclement weather, the commencement will be conducted in the Academic Center Auditorium.
