Cross-country seniors Russell Blankenship, with his parents at left, and Tamara Pavlov, right, were honored Thursday night in Bardo Gymnasium. Rounding out the group were volunteer assistant coach Jeffrey Faherty, center, representing head coach Mike Paulhamus; and Michael Fischer, a teammate who escorted Pavlov. Ashley Hetrick was absent. Seniors Russell Blankenship, Tamara Pavlov and Ashley Hetrick were honored during halftime of Thursday's women's basketball home opener as graduating members of the Penn College cross-country team. Blankenship, an environmental technology management major from New Florence, has been a member of the team for four years, with his senior year being his best performance season. Head coach Mike Paulhamus will miss Blankenship's smile and dedication to the sport. Pavlov, a business administration: management concentration major from Lewisburg, is another four-year member of the team. In 2007, she was the Penn State University Athletic Conference individual cross-country champion and a four-time PSUAC All-Conference honoree. Tamara completed in three United States Collegiate Athletic Association championships and finished eight in two of those races. Although her eligibility has ended, Tamara plans to stay with the team as assistant coach next season. Hetrick, a general studies major from Williamsport, is a two-year member of the team. Her best time this season was at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre meet, where she ran a 28:02 5K race. Photo by Sarah K. Mariano, student photographer
