Penn College Employees Present at Middle States Conference

Two Pennsylvania College of Technology employees offered a presentation recently at the Middle States Commission on Higher Education annual conference in Philadelphia.
Tina M. Evans-Simington, assistant professor of dental hygiene/applied health studies, and Jeremiah C. Gee, assessment coordinator for the college's School of Integrated Studies, presented examples of a customizable matrix for organizing assessment processes and plans at each of the institutional, programmatic and course levels.
The two provided examples of Penn College's "best practices" and gave step-by-step instructions for building customized matrices. The participants learned how to align their student-learning outcomes and assessment evidence with their program goals and additional parameters of accountability. They also discussed the main stakeholder benefits of using assessment matrices.
Evans-Simington holds a doctorate in health promotion from Marywood University, where she also earned a bachelor's degree in sports medicine. She earned her master's degree in health care administration from King's College.
Gee earned a master's degree in education from Mansfield University and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Nyack College Manhattan Center. He is currently a doctoral student in The Pennsylvania State University's adult education program.
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is the unit of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools that accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in the Middle States region.
