Two culinary students from Pennsylvania College of Technology were honored at the National Restaurant Association's recent "Salute to Excellence Making a Difference" awards banquet in Chicago. Delegates from Penn College were Deborah E. Wyland, Wilkes-Barre, and Jason E. Blaski, Luzerne. In May, Wyland graduated with an associate degree in baking and pastry arts, and Blaski received his associate's in culinary arts.

They were selected by faculty in the School of Hospitality from among a record 16 nominees to represent the College at the event. Criteria for the honor include above-average academic accomplishment, leadership and activities, and at least 300 hours of industry work experience.
