In anticipation of pending changes to the SAT, Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering a course to help high school students prepare for the standardized test used as an admissions tool by many institutions of higher learning.

Beginning in March, the SAT will feature revised scoring guidelines and a new style and format for questions, as well as a return to the 1,600-point scale and movement toward Common Core-focused content.

The course will help students prepare for success on the exam through self-paced learning, small group instruction and individual interaction with a professional instructor. The focus will be on math, English and reading, with an optional writing session available for those who wish to practice their college-ready skills and review with a Penn College faculty member.

Scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on seven consecutive Saturdays from Jan. 16 through Feb. 27, the course will provide 12 hours of math preparation (Jan. 16 and 30 and Feb. 13 and 27) and nine hours devoted to English and reading (Jan. 23 and Feb. 6 and 20). The optional writing segment will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. following English and reading.

The cost is $279 for math, English and reading; the three hours of writing instruction carry an additional $49 fee.
