Penn College Coaches Prep for Fall Sports Seasons

Although classes won't begin until Monday and athletes have yet to report, seven fall sports coaches at Pennsylvania College of Technology are gearing up for the start of their seasons.

The baseball team, under coach Chris Howard who is beginning his second full season, will be the first to get under way when the Wildcats host Westmoreland Community College on Aug. 25 in a doubleheader at Logue Field. Last fall, the Wildcats won the Penn State University Athletic Conference Fall Classic.

Coach Mike Paulhamus will see his men's and women's cross-country teams step into action Sept. 1 at the Marywood Invitational. Paulhamus is in his eighth season. His men's team has won back-to-back PSUAC championships.

Golf coach Chet Schuman also enters his eighth season, and his squad seeks its third consecutive PSUAC team championship and looks to further extend its win streak that has reached 130 matches over the past four seasons. The Wildcats open Aug. 3 in a tournament at Penn State Fayette.

Team tennis coach Davis Santucci's third edition opens Sept. 5 at Penn State Delaware .

Three Penn College teams have openers scheduled Sept. 7. The men's soccer squad, under second-year coach Enrique Castillo, begins defense of its PSUAC championship hosting Penn State Harrisburg while the women's volleyball team, under Bambi Hawkins who is in her eighth season as coach, opens at Davis College . The men's soccer team has won back-to-back PSUAC titles and the women's volleyball team finished second in the conference the last two seasons. The women's soccer team, coached by Kim Antanitis, who is in her second season, hosts Penn State Harrisburg. Last fall, the Lady Wildcats won their second consecutive Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference championship.
